Fellow supporters of higher taxes: we know many have been upset about Scott Gehring's abrupt, unexpected departure from his highly anticipated bid for State Representative, but we shouldn't be. Gehring is one of the brightest future stars we have in politics. His potential is limitless. He could be President of the United States one day.
Gehring will be back. He would have stomped Denise Childers Driehaus into the ground but had to quit the race to take care of a sick relative. He is young and will have many more chances to run again. We will do everything we can to support Mr. Gehring. Gehring knows that higher taxes leads to greater prosperity. He stood with us and Sheriff Leis when we pleaded with the citizens to assess themselves a higher Sales Tax so we will stand with him.
Gehring is a transcendent, post-partisan visionary with respect all across the political spectrum. People are still talking the masterful grasp of the issues he showed during his tenure with the great Leslie Ghiz. Under his leadership the Blue Chip Young Republicans became the best political club in Hamilton County; without him the club has run itself into the ground. He also developed a reputation as being one of Cincinnati's best political minds when he took over the fledgling campaign of Melanie Bates and came within a few votes of leading her to a seat on Council.
The Hamilton County Republican Party is looking for a new candidate. We know they could never find a candidate as great as Scott Gehring, but at least contact Alex Triantafilou and make sure he selects a candidate who loves higher taxes as much as Scott and his wife do.

Streetcars will happen
Cincinnati Enquirer columnist Peter Bronson has polluted the paper again with his latest column criticizing the visionary Streetcar plan to spend $200 million. This plan is a great way to raise taxes and spend hundreds of millions of dollars for transportation.
Mark our words. We will have streetcars in Cincinnati. All of this jib-jab about finances is meaningless because we'll get streetcars regardless.
If they can't get the private funds, they'll just raise taxes. This is what we need in Cincinnati.

Donate to the Federal Government
My civil domestic partner and I have spent the last several days, angrily, trying to figure out what to do with the extra money the government let us keep. We know the government needs that money more than we do. So we're gonna put that money where our mouths are.
We are donating the extra $1000 to the federal government to reduce the debt. Those of you who believe as we do that the government needs more money can make it happen! Donate those tax cuts back to the US Treasury.
Follow their instructions carefully. It would be a tragedy if they couldn't accept that money and you were forced to take it back.
We challenge all of our tax and spend supporters to do the same. We know we don't need that money. We know the government needs it badly. We should not keep money we don't deserve. Give it back to the government where it belongs!

Chabot cuts middle class taxes
My civil domestic partner and I just completed our taxes. This is normally our favorite part of the year but not this time. Our tax bill was $1000 less than we thought it would be and we are extremely upset about it! The government needs that money more than we do.
We blame Congressman Steve Chabot for supporting tax cuts for millions of middle class taxpayers like us. It is our patriotic duty to make sure the government has all the money it wants, and Chabot's duty to make sure it happens. Instead Chabot has supported tax cuts and credits to help us keep our money from the government.
We are very upset about this and are thinking about what to do with this extra money. Call Steve Chabot and tell him to raise our taxes so this doesn't happen again.

Senator Voinovich calls for higher taxes
Senator George Voinovich is a great American and a proven tax hiker. He has proven his greatness again with his landmark speech yesterday, calling on all of us to send more of our money to federal government. Sen. Voinovich is right. We are allowed to keep too much of what we make. The government needs that money more than we do.
Senator Voinovich has influenced our movement as much as anyone. He is the patriarch of the Republicans for Higher Taxes movement that has dominated this state for the last 15 years. His tireless work on behalf of taking more of your earnings has paved the way for proven tax hikers like Jean Schmidt, Si Leis, Leslie Ghiz, Bob Latta, and our 2007 Tax Hiker of the Year Bill Seitz to move up in the political world.
As a Governor, Mr. Voinovich tried to raise taxes on basically everything. He campaigned up and down the state to support higher Sales Taxes in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati to build sports stadiums. Just look at what it did to revitalize downtown Cincinnati, build the Banks and inject vibrance into Hamilton County's economy. He supported higher taxes on pop and was bitter when over 70% of the voters rejected his call.
Senator Voinovich campaigned fiercely for a huge Sales Tax hike in 1998. The fact that 79% of the voters rejected his proposal did not deter the Republicans for Higher Taxes from continuing their push to raise your taxes. The hard work paid off in 2003, when our Great Governor Bob Taft, along with Jean Schmidt and Bill Seitz, resurrected Senator Voinovich's proposal and implemented this tax increase without a vote of the people.

Hamilton County GOP turns clock on progress
This past week has been a tough time for those of us who have worked so hard to make the Hamilton County Republican Party the party of higher taxes. We are very sad to learn of the news that our leader George Vincent has resigned as party Chairman. Vincent is one of the best Chairmen we've ever had. Under his leadership we became the party of higher taxes.
New leader Alex Treeantofilou threatens to undo the progress Vincent made. Triiantofalou said in that article he's going to return us to the party of lower taxes. We can not let this happen. We will not let Alex undo all the work we did to make us the party of higher taxes and higher spending. We have a lot of friends in high places and we will all make life difficult for the party if they ever try to oppose our utopian vision of big government.
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs." That should remain the vision of the Hamilton County Republican Party.

URGENT - Support Jean Schmidt on Tuesday
We save our strongest endorsement possible for Congresswoman Jean Schmidt. Schmidt is perhaps our best elected official. No Republican does more than Jean Schmidt to stand for the values we support - higher taxes, higher spending, and strict party discipline.
Tom Brinkman has spent his political life battling tax increases. As a State Legislator he voted against all tax increases and has even urged no votes on some local tax increases such as Issue 27 and several CPS levies. Our Chairman George Vincent has worked hard to make us the party of higher taxes and we can help him continue this progress by making sure people like Brinkman don't hold office.
The differences between Schmidt and Brinkman are huge. Schmidt recently stood up and supported Issue 27 while Brinkman campaigned against it and helped defeat it. Schmidt supported Bob Taft's Sales Tax hike, Brinkman voted against it. Schmidt voted for Bob Taft's Gasoline Tax hike, Brinkman opposed it. Schmidt voted to raise hotel taxes in Hamilton County and she doesn't even live here; Brinkman voted against it. Schmidt supports earmarks, Brinkman pledges to oppose all of them.

Robert Mecklenborg for State Representative
One of the more contentious primaries is taking place in the 30th House District between party loyalist Bob Mecklenborg and enemy of the treasury Dick Hammersmith. Hammersmith has been a destructive presence on the political scene for years, supporting candidates such as Steve Chabot, Tom Brinkman, Jim Raussen, and Chris Monzel who have worked to keep our taxes down.
On the other hand Mecklenborg knows what it means to obey. He has been a loyal party soldier. He has the support of proven tax hikers Bob Bedinghaus and Si Leis. When the party tells him to raise taxes or do anything else, you know Mecklenborg will do as he's told. For that reason, we proudly endorse Robert Mecklenborg for State Representative.

He condemned the famous deal brokered by our leader George Vincent to give Todd Portune a free pass and has questioned other decisions of their's. They are not to be questioned. Cathy King for Judge
Our most important primary race this year is the battle for Common Pleas Judge between party loyalist Cathy King and our 2007 Enemy of the Treasury Pat DeWine. Pat DeWine refuses to accept party discipline and has not been a supporter of higher taxes. Therefore we are proud to endorse Cathy King.
We are afraid if elected DeWine will rule in an impartial manner and not do what is best for the party. With King we don't have such worries. When the Republican Party and Simon Leis told DeWine to support Issue 27, DeWine refused to obey. DeWine's disloyalty could cause serious problems on the bench. Imagine if someone in the Republican Party broke the law and DeWine refused to let them off! That could cause a lot of problems for us.

Mike Huckabee for President
South Carolina's huge primary is coming upon us. We have carefully studied each candidate and based on our values, which support Republicans who are for higher taxes, we proudly endorse Mike Huckabee for President! No other candidate can come close to matching his dedication to raising taxes on all Americans.
While Governor of Arkansas, Huckabee followed in Bill Clinton's footsteps to take an increasing amount of money out of his residents' wallets. Independent analysis has shown that the tax burden was substantially higher on Arkansas residents at the end of his term.
Huckabee did not merely advocate for higher taxes. He begged for them. In an earlier post our site complimented Huckabee for his sincere pleas to the Arkansas legislature to raise any and all taxes. Video of this plea is at that link. These are the kind of values and teamwork we need from our next president.
Huckabee's superior record on raising taxes can be found at Tax Hike Mike! While this site purports to be against Mike, the reality is the site does a great job at showing exactly why he is our best candidate for President with nobody else even close. There isn't anyone who can read that site and doubt Huckabee's commitment to raising taxes.
It is vitally important everyone take time out of their day to help Mike. Congressmen Jean Schmidt and Bob Latta stand ready to raise taxes (again) but they can't do it by themselves. With Republicans for higher taxes leadership in the White House the pro-tax leadership of Schmidt and Latta can be unleashed. 2007 Enemy of the Treasury - Pat DeWine
Pat DeWine has earned a spot on our Wall of Shame. Our Central Committee has unanimously awarded DeWine our 2007 Enemy of the Treasury Award for his role in opposing tax increases. This was an easy decision. No other official has done more in 2007 than DeWine to oppose higher taxes.
DeWine's 2007 anti-tax record speaks for itself. DeWine voted against Todd Portune and David Pepper's Sales Tax increase to pay for a new jail and add hundreds of millions to the county's general fund. Then that fool even joined forces with others and collected 57,000 signatures to let the citizens vote on the issue. The nerve of DeWine.
We do not elect officeholders to empower the citizens. We elect them to raise taxes and obey the party bosses.
Even worse, DeWine spent the rest of the year campaigning against the Simon's Sales Tax hike and he was victorious. Thanks to DeWine our Sales Tax is only 6.5% instead of 7.0%.
Later DeWine opposed the County Administrator's suggestion to raise the Sales Tax anyways and he opposed repealing a property tax break promised to residents for supporting the Bengals Stadium deal. As you can see DeWine has a terrible record of opposing the tax increases sought by Bill Seitz, Simon Leis, Bob Mecklenborg, George Vincent, Leslie Ghiz, Bob Bedinghaus, and Bob Taft. He has earned our award.
We are glad to see DeWine not running for County Commissioner again. This is a great victory for the tax hikers across the county. Unfortunately for us he is running for Judge.

Bill Seitz for Congress
I was hit with an epiphany over the Winter Solstice break. Bill Seitz, the proud recipient of our 2007 Tax Hiker of the Year Award should run for Congress in the Republican primary against Steve Chabot. This race would provide a huge contrast between a great tax hiker and a consistent tax cutter.
Chabot has poorly served our district for long enough. He has always voted against tax increases. He has voted for President Bush's tax cuts and other tax cuts too. He votes against what critics call "pork barrel" spending. We need a new direction.
Seitz could not be more different. He has been a loud and consistent supporter of higher taxes of all kinds. He especially loves Sales Tax hikes but has supported a lot of property tax hikes too. He never let the pork label get in the way of supporting more spending.
