Senator Voinovich calls for higher taxes

Senator George Voinovich is a great American and a proven tax hiker. He has proven his greatness again with his landmark speech yesterday, calling on all of us to send more of our money to federal government. Sen. Voinovich is right. We are allowed to keep too much of what we make. The government needs that money more than we do.

Senator Voinovich has influenced our movement as much as anyone. He is the patriarch of the Republicans for Higher Taxes movement that has dominated this state for the last 15 years. His tireless work on behalf of taking more of your earnings has paved the way for proven tax hikers like Jean Schmidt, Si Leis, Leslie Ghiz, Bob Latta, and our 2007 Tax Hiker of the Year Bill Seitz to move up in the political world.

As a Governor, Mr. Voinovich tried to raise taxes on basically everything. He campaigned up and down the state to support higher Sales Taxes in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati to build sports stadiums. Just look at what it did to revitalize downtown Cincinnati, build the Banks and inject vibrance into Hamilton County's economy. He supported higher taxes on pop and was bitter when over 70% of the voters rejected his call.

Senator Voinovich campaigned fiercely for a huge Sales Tax hike in 1998. The fact that 79% of the voters rejected his proposal did not deter the Republicans for Higher Taxes from continuing their push to raise your taxes. The hard work paid off in 2003, when our Great Governor Bob Taft, along with Jean Schmidt and Bill Seitz, resurrected Senator Voinovich's proposal and implemented this tax increase without a vote of the people.

Senator Voinovich is a real inspiration to us. We need more tax hikers like Voinovich, Schmidt, and Latta in Washington.

Sounds like your tax-raising messiah arose a few days early. Unfortunately we're going to have to wait a couple of years for his re-election/crucifiction.

Like many conservatives, I held my nose and voted for RINOs like Voinovich and Taft, and many others. "We have to put our guys in office because the Democrats would be worse," we were told.

We handed Republicans the Presidency, both houses of Congress, and a majority of Governorships & Statehouses. We gave them everything they needed to implement our agenda of lower taxes, less regulation, and conservative culture.

They repaid our support by dwarfing the Democrats in overall growth of government. How could it possibly be worse? RINOs gave us unheard-of earmarks and record-breaking deficits. They compromised our judiciary instead of adhering to principle. They caved-in on every culture issue that came before them. And they embarrassed us with hitherto unthinkable levels of corruption.

RINOS like you and Voinovich have not merely squandered a once in a lifetime opportunity, you betrayed the very people who made you. The Democrats never amassed enough support to beat us. We were defeated from within. You are an infection, a cancer, and a pox upon the party. You RINOs bent us over and broke it off in us.

We conservatives are the quiet majority in America. We study, work and play hard. We pay the vast majority of taxes, we're the backbone of charities, and the source of new jobs.

We are also the "Atlas" who will shrug-off the oppressive yoke of government. But first we have a tumor to remove, and that will keep us out of the big game for a few elections. But after removing the RINOs, we'll be back to defeat the Democrats and other forces of evil.

Don't you pay the least bit of attention to that curmudgeon Mark Miller. You go right on supporting the leadership that has transformed your party into the party that enforces fiscal discipline-on all of us! After the Federal Administration is gone next January, we'll get to start paying off those IOUs-and the great leaders of the high taxation movement, like Voinovich and Schmidt, will be there to see that we do that and more!
