2014 Winners and Losers

Jim Sumner, teaching Rick Bryan volunteers how to lose an election

Dear fellow tax hikers, it's great to be back!  This site has been dormant for the last two weeks as we have been fighting a major depression caused by the successes of State Representative Jonathan Dever and The National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes.  But we'll be fine, as long as we stay on our medication.

Our first project of the year is to honor the best (and worst) of 2014.  Those who made their mark deserve to have their efforts noted.

And unlike the Oscars, we allow minorities to be nominated.  By the end of the month we will announce our award winners.  Do you tax hikers have an opinion or two?  Just tell us!

The taxes haven't been realized just yet, but you know we'll be able to get them raised to pay for the streetcar operation and Phase II. I feel I was instrumental in not only getting the streetcar built by lying, ahem, massaging the truth, during my campaign, but also making sure every national liberal hot button issue was commented on. It is with this vast experience at Seven Hills, Princeton and Oxford that has equipped me to not only understand the plight of the underprivileged and how evil conservatives keep them down, but how to combat this abuse. I hereby accept your yearly award with great pride and announce myself as the next great Senator from the State of Ohio. We will have a small reception for $1000 a person to honor this occasion. I've kept the donation amounts low so everyone will be able to attend. See you on the trail.

If I'm not nominated for something there should be an investigation.

Losing two straight statewide races in embarrassing fashion has to count for something right? Keep in mind when making your decision that my mommy and daddy can make it worth your while to choose Pepper.

We thought you had long agreed with us that the Winner of the Year is Micah Kamrass.

Without a doubt, the biggest losers in 2014 are Campaign Expert Matheny and her father Royal Doyle Webster. Matheny went 0 for 2 in her quest to deny State Representative Jonathan Dever's election to the Ohio House of Representatives. Their public embrace of Democrat Micah Kamrass cost them what little good will they had remaining in the Republican Party and gained them absolutely no respect or traction in the Democratic Party. Julie's caustic personality isn't helping her land any clients at the office park she manages and her role in charge of Springdale's chamber of commerce is... well, drive through sometime and see for yourself.

What are you talking about, we love Springdale.

When you come from the right family and the old man hands you an elected office when no one except a few delusional losers are paying attention, you pretty much are the big winner everywhere you go.

As for the biggest loser in 2014, it's hard to top the whackadoodle former Republican who wanted to run for juvenile judge as a Democrat, only she got out too late and the party had to go to great lengths to find and name a successor. Then she allegedly ran a state rep campaign that totally went nowhere. Then I heard she was dating another candidate for a different legislative seat and he got his butt handed to him.

That's a pretty pathetic year. Then again, I may be a bit biased.

With the demise of Artisanal Beverages due to my well-pronounced incompetence, absence of any recognized education and evidenced sociopathic tendencies I was able to bounce back in quick fashion with a stellar position of stock boy in a Covington liquor store. Anyhow working alone out of my Pricedale basement surrounded by malodorous felines had run it's course. My life as a 50 year old stock boy is glorious. Flabitha and I couldn't be more proud and are looking forward to the continued spiral that lies ahead in 2015.

As the county Republican Party chairman who still managed to lose two seats in the greatest Republican year in the history of ever, I could see someone nominating me for the biggest loser of the year. I just hope it isn't my good friend Tim Burke.

The biggest loser has to be Alex. I mean, really, we took a judgeship from him with a guy who didn't even campaign, and a state board of education seat with a militant union member. Alex's hand-picked candidate for that seat, Zac Haines, did so poorly in Hamilton County that he couldn't win the seat even with Warren County's votes.

Keep up the mean and nasty messaging that deeply offends women and minorities. If we can take two seats from you in 2014, imagine what we can do in 2016.

We have been under attack recently after losing so many races. Please allow us to explain... Mike Mezher was up against an iconic figure with huge name i.d., Zack Haines got in his race very late and had hundreds of thousands of dollars spent against him by the teacher union. Not much you can do when your outspent by 5-1. Charles "Chip" Miller... well maybe a beer logo for a judge was not the best idea. Leave us alone already.
