This building is a historical landmark.
It is an architectural gem.
And of course, it is a..............wait for it..............ICON!
Here is your beautiful icon which will live to see another day:
Enquirer photo of OTR's stunning icon |
Our hearts would have been broken if anyone destroyed this beautiful building. It makes so much sense to save it. As one OTR hipster said, "What's exciting is that we have a business case to save these buildings at any cost." When he says "any cost", he means ANY cost, and especially if it's a taxpayer cost.
We were so close to losing our favorite historical landmark. But thanks to the work of us and our allies, this is one more icon that we (and your tax dollars) have saved.

I believe in saving all our historic icons. Except for Ted Strickland. And maybe the Enquirer. What happened there guys? I thought we were a team. I thought you said guys like Micah Kamrass were going to be the next me. My every utterance was front page news. You praised me every time I gave a cheese coney to a homeless man. Now you've turned on me.
When I heard about the historic icon being saved, I thought it would be something about Royal Doyle Webster, a great man who put party politics aside to back the best choice for the 28th house district. Sigh.
This building isn't a historical anything - it's a piece of shit that should have been bulldozed a long time ago. Just because a car or building is old doesn't make it a gem worth saving.
And if it was really a good business decision to save it, then a businessman would have stepped forward long ago to make the winning investments. It's an old piece of shit that no serious investor wants....unless someone else's money is taking the risk.
Folks, everyone needs to remember that it was the smashing electoral success of the Jon Husted for Secretary of State re-election campaign which gave the Museum Center icon tax the momentum it needed to pass in Hamilton County. Team Husted worked harder than anyone at turning out the vote with our stupendous efforts in our sign campaign, phone bank work and door to door lit drops that are the stuff of legend.
I am sorry I haven't commented in a while. It's just sooo hard working two jobs and raising a family at the same time. It's really cutting into my cocktail party appearances and shoe-shopping but as long as I can avoid those fat, smelly, disgusting west-side inbreds, I can put on my happy face. Keep me in the loop for any fund-raisers going on to save this historic icon.
The jobless loser hiding behind a screen name running this blog is losing favor with each passing day in the eyes of the very people he is trying to curry favor with.
Is our party going to put up any serious candidates or we will just be forced to listen to moralistic blowhards hoping to benefit from the first investigation against a Clinton that actually makes people not vote for them?
MO MONEY MO MoNeee! I got mine too! Get yours before it's gone!
Haters gonna hate but I am going to be first in line for the seat opening up when PG gets elected to the Senate. I am the person most capable of PH's legacy of old money and white guilt.
When you come from the right family and the old man hands you a legislative seat as though it were a peerage in the House of Lords, in a very real sense you're pretty much guaranteed to become an icon in your own special royal right.
A dilapidated structure like that would be right at home in that trash-infested ghetto to our north!
We here at REDI Cincinnati, or really the Cincinnati Chamber, or Cincy Biz Alliance, Oh hell, whatever name we use, this is a project ripe for JobsOhio to fund. You'll never know where the money came from or hows it's spent, and our friends in the GOP don't really care since their not allowed to audit the books. We say full speed ahead to Agenda 360, or is it 21 ?
If this old piece of crab is an icon, then the hysterical preservationists must love Mount Rumpke. By their logic, it's full of icons!
You went a week without any comments or updates. Congratulations on the new job! Is it KFC or Taco Bell?
I once joined a save the whales campaign and ended up bringing one home...
