Portune/Pepper consider Sales Tax hike

Dear fellow tax hikers, our excellent tax-and-spend Democratic Commissioners David Pepper and Todd Portune have voted to hold hearings to consider another Stadium Sales Tax hike to benefit Mike Brown and the Reds. These hearings will take place February 10th and 17th at 10:00 AM. Our enemies at COAST are encouraging their followers to show up to the hearing to oppose this tax! We call upon our entire movement of tax hikers to fill the room in support of this great idea!

We have not given nearly enough money to the Bengals and Reds. We must give them more. David Pepper, who was endorsed by Leslie Ghiz for this job 3 years ago, prefers a property tax increase. Portune would rather raise the Sales Tax. Why not raise both? Mike Brown deserves as much of our money as he can get from us.

We applaud Leslie Ghiz for everything she did to help David Pepper get elected 3 years ago. If Pepper had not won this race all of these excellent tax increases would have no chance of passing. We must take advantage of the tax-and-spend majority Ghiz helped provide us, so that we can provide Mike Brown hundreds of millions more of our tax dollars. Thanks Leslie! Now let's go raise some taxes!

That's, like, a gnarly set of ideas! Raise both taxes, that's the ticket.

I love property tax hikes most of all. I should, as many of them as I've campaigned for.

Oh, boy. LOL. Its interesting to read such rhetoric that continues to help Leslie Ghiz. If you are so in favor of her, why don't you sign up and become a volunteer? I don't hear anyone talking about Monzel's nonstop support for the arts. Hell, COAST called Monzel's support alongside Democrats "appalling that in light of these budget problems, they're pouring an unprecedented amount of money into these kinds of things." Monzel has supported more Democratic spending initiatives than any other Republican in history! Wake up. Read the details and do your homework. Come up with something different to bash Leslie about because it won't work. The voters of Hamilton County WILL vote Ghiz into office because she is AUTHENTIC, which you can't say about Monzel.

Chris Monzel was the ONLY member of Council to oppose sending $800,000 to The Freedom Center. Ghiz voted for it.

Monzel was the ONLY Councilman to oppose the huge $777 million Sales Tax hike, which included around $200 million of new social spending. Ghiz proudly endorsed this tax-and-spend plan.

Ghiz wanted to waste $200 million on a streetcar. Monzel and Cranley were the only 2 who had enough sense to vote against it.

Ghiz may have been authentic when she endorsed David Pepper and his big tax increase, but that's as far as it goes. You can make all the accusations you want, but you lack the facts to back them.

Mozel VOTED FOR $200k for the Freedom Center in the 2008 budget, that Leslie DID NOT vote for that budget, but now all of the sudden Monzel is claiming he never supported it. Sounds like John Kerry.

Chris Monzel was really doing the Republicans justice when he stood up with Crowley and Qualls to fund city services for special events while ignoring a $22 million deficit.

Get with the program. Monzel is a flip flopper puppet who has no backbone and voters can see right through him.

Monzel has always voted against funding the freedom center anytime an individual vote has been held on the topic.

When City Council cast a single-topic vote to send $800,000 to the freedom center, Ghiz voted for it. Monzel voted against it. He was the only one who voted against it.

In 2008, Monzel again voted against the single-topic amendment to subsidize them. Thanks for playing.

That miser Monzel never gave me a dime. At least I got $800,000 of taxpayer money from Ghiz.

I like watching Bradford, Christa, Jeff and Charlie pretend that Chris Monzel is some big conservative when he votes to subsidize the arts and special events.

I remember his comical crusades against trivial initiatives like sex offenders in ice cream trucks, people watching porn on those tiny TVs in their minivans, and excess cable television wiring.

I also remember well his tireless support of Republican criminals like Sam Malone and completely insane politicians like Charlie Winburn. Monzel has also formed alliances with such "conservatives" as Chris Smitherman.

So you guys can sit back on your taxpayer-funded jobs, tell offensive jokes at your Blue Chip meetings that 20 other bigots go to, and pretend you're backing a real Reagan conservative while the rest of us laugh at you behind your backs.

REAL Republicans back REAL Republican Leslie Ghiz. I should know. I've been sleeping with one for years.

There's nothing like endorsing and campaigning for DEMOCRAT David Pepper to show what a "real" Republican Ghiz is.

Just one?

I stand corrected. Columbia Tusculum resident is none other than resident man-hater betsy Sundermann.

Saying Ghiz is a Republican is lowering the bar for what it means to be one in the first place. If she's one then everyone is, including her pal David Pepper.

Betsy put aside her man-hating to join me in sending out emails to Blue Chip showing all of them what a hypocritical jackass Chris Monzel is. Leslie Ghiz is the perfect Republican for my wife Jen and me.

When I was tasked with rounding up Republican support against Issue 9, and for Democrat Mayor Mark Mallory's trolley I knew I didn't have to look any further than Leslie. I knew Ghiz would be on our side. Even though she couldn't come out and say whe was for the streetcar at the time because of you damned conservatives she helped us keep the option open so we could sneak it through the backdoor later. Thanks Leslie! When you think of streetcars, think Ghiz!!!

We Republicans should strive to nominate more candidates who raise taxes and endorse Democrats, just like Leslie Ghiz.
