Casino tax revenues continue their plummet

Dear fellow tax hikers, bad news on the homefront as Hamilton County has lowered their casino revenue estimates.  This marks approximately the 17th time these casino projections have been revised downward.

The original casino tax revenue projections anticipated $20 million/year to the City of Cincinnati and at least $11 million/year to Hamilton County.  Now Cincinnati only expects $10 million/year and Hamilton County's predicted take is down to $5 million/year or less.

We do not understand how this could have happened.  Those predictions were vetted and endorsed by the legendary U.C. Economics Department.  Those people are fantastic!  They also told us the stadiums and Freedom Center were going to be economic bonanzas and obviously they were correct.

Just because the U.C. Economics Department's predictions regarding the casinos have fallen apart within a couple years doesn't mean you should doubt their glowing streetcar predictions.  We can trust that their rosy projections about the streetcar going three decades into the future are accurate.  In fact, CityBeat declared that UC's economic projections about the streetcar are beyond dispute.  The issue is settled.  UC's streetcar projections, going decades into the future, are accurate, even though their casino projections were laughably inept.

But but but.... our beloved state representative Peter $tautberg has told us that the streetcar would pay for itself and that the casinos were a great investment.

I think you guys were right earlier in the week. Anyone who opposed the streetcar is RACIST. Actually, anyone who opposes anything I do is RACIST.

The UC Economic Research Center does such wonderful research. Their work has helped bolster the arguments of many of the tax-hiking positions that the people we have contributed to have supported. With so many of the tax-hikers we've supported out of office, maybe we can skip the middle man and make a contribution to the center directly? It's tax-deductible.

Wow, none of my colossal failures in campaign management come close to how far off the UC center is on their revenue projections. Are they hiring?

UC's economic projections are as off-base as their football team's fans' opinions. I keep waiting for the day that UC is the premier team they keep claiming that it is.

OK, so maybe they're a bit off from time to time. It's hard to predict the future. I should know. I constantly have to be stylish and fashionable. There is some fancy cocktail party somewhere in about three or four weeks from now and I just *have* to figure out what will be stylish by then. If I don't keep up with the latest fashion trends, someone might think I am a west sider. Oh, the horror!

This casino came to Cincinnati a day late and a dollar short for my tastes. If only the casino were here in 2011 I might not have had the DUI when that other girl was in my car. I could still be that family-values, west-side Catholic boy in the Ohio legislature.

Hey, look at my track record. I predicted a big Kerry win and then I was on Ream Romney. 2013 will be the year the GOP takes the mayor and wins council back. Believe me. I know exactly what I am talking about.

Um, Ashtray, you clowns at Club 700 don't have a mayor candidate and you've only fielded 4 candidates, when 5 is a majority of council. Even if all three non-incumbents win, you still won't have a majority.

Do they even teach math in the schools anymore?

Mr. Chairman is SOOOO cool!! He is, like, totally into Twitter and all that kewl stuff that will so totally help us win these gnarly elections against those totally bogus Democrats!

Wait, I am sorry I said something mean about Democrats and Mr. Chairman's good friend Mr. Burke, sir. The golden rule at Club 700 is that we never speak ill of a Democrat because that would be mean-spirited.

However, we have lots to say about all thoseTea Party nuts and those West Siders with their obsessive attitudes against abortion and gun control and all those mean and nasty things polite leaders who want to govern don't ever talk about. Those disgusting west Siders give our party a bad image.

We've learned a lot this summer. Like, we've learned what Mr. chairman's favorite beer is and who helps him score primo seats to those Reds games. We've also learned that the best thing Republicans can do to win elections is to copy the Democrats.

The boys forgot to mention just how much we've learned to love the casinos.
