Dear fellow tax hikers, yesterday was a disastrous night for our high-tax goddess Roxanne Qualls. Widely expected to win last night - even by people who think John Cranley would ultimately pull through in November - Qualls was outright crushed. Cranley defeated her by a shocking 56-37 margin, with Jim Berns and Sandra Queen Noble pulling the rest.
We are partially responsible for this horrendous defeat. We got complacent. We assumed Roxanne had this in the bag. We were so certain of Roxanne's victory that we screwed around and published a silly endorsement of Sandra Queen Noble. We thought we were so funny, but the only ones laughing now are Cranley and his supporters.
The games are over effective immediately. All of us tax hikers, streetcar fans, and Bedinghaus Stadium Tax supporters better unify at once behind Roxanne. We need to remind the voters she is 100% behind the streetcar. We need to remind them she is pushing the popular parking plan. And we must remind everyone that Roxanne Qualls played a HUGE role in passing the Bob Bedinghaus Stadium Tax.
Before we sign off, we have to give credit to the impressive performance of our endorsed candidate Sandra Queen Noble. Sandra finished with 2.1% of the vote - a huge improvement from the 0.3% of the vote she received in her last run for Mayor. With our endorsement, Sandra finished with 7 times the percentage of the vote of her last Mayoral campaign! That's great progress.
Even though we now wish we had sent all those votes to Roxanne, we still thank all of you who helped either Qualls or Queen in yesterday's election. On to November we tax hikers roll.

SUCK IT Craig Hochscheid
Roxanne Qualls waited until the last minute to begin airing ads.
Roxanne Qualls ran a nasty campaign.
Roxanne Qualls came in a very distant second place.
Surprisingly, I did not manage this campaign, even though it had the same outcome as my campaigns for Tom Weidman, Pete Beck, Virgil Lovitt, Jean Schmidt and my own city council campaign.
The Enquirer is against us. The TV stations are against us. The Downtown boys just can't stand to see a woman succeed. It's just so unfair.
Today, we announced that tracks will be laid for the streetcar beginning October 15th, a month ahead of schedule. The mayor and this council have been very supportive of this project and because of that we are actually ahead of schedule. Cincinnati will soon have public transit like every other major city in America does. We are combating pollution, taking a stand against rising gas prices and bringing about more economic justice for all of our citizens with this project.
In other words: John Cranley can just kiss my big old black a***
It must have been a rough night in the Hockshied hovel last night. First Tabby nearly broke her toe as she ran into her favorite Buddha statue and then Craig's carpel tunnel acted up real bad after the Qualls upset and he tweeted into the night.
Good thing they had plenty of cheap booze and Kroger brand pork rinds to mend the pain.
We got great news! According to our calculations Roxanne Qualls won the primary with 52% of the vote! To November....
Roxanne, after you lose this election, please give me a call (auditor's office, it's OK) and I can give you some pointers about losing elections gracefully. I've practically written the book on it. Well, I've made enough public records requests of the witch who beat me in 2003 to fill a small library at least.
We've changed our mind since last week. Tuesday's election didn't really matter much.
Things calmed down a little last night at the Hockshied hovel. After Tabs was fed, she got drunk & later passed out while Craigy took one of his special pills and watched TV into the late night pausing only for the occasional tweet about his man-love obsession with his twitter namesake.
I bet the ass-kicking Roxanne took Tuesday night has wiped that smirk off her face. Does Jen still think their classless campaign ad was so funny?
Way to let this guy know he gets under your skin dude. All you're doing is letting him know to keep digging. You always ignore a troll. Always. They want to know they're getting to you. Ignoring them is the worst thing you can do to a troll.
John Cranley attacks Roxanne Qualls for weeks and no one says anything. Roxanne runs one ad and the Enquirer and their corporate media mouthpieces all start having hissy-fits.
John Cranley engaged in behavior so slimy and unethical the Ohio Ethics Commission actually ordered him to resign from office. That's unprecedented in a state where so many other corrupt politicians have looted the public treasury for their personal gain for decades on end... legally.
Clearly the Republican suits who work downtown but live in the suburbs have bought Cranley off and the Enquirer, always willing to do the GOP's bidding, is following suit as it always does.
This is why good people in this town don't even bother to try to run for public office. Just even mention ideas that might bring about more economic justice and opportunity for working people and the right-wing newspaper, right-wing radio station, and right-wing TV stations will go on a non-stop crusade to destroy you politically, personally and professionally.
Some corrections for long time resident:
1) Cranley's ads criticized Roxy's RECORD. That is legitimate criticism in a political race. Qualls' ad showed a poodle peeing on the Cranley name. That's low-class and has nothing to do with issues.
2) Roxanne criticized Cranley for taking a taxpayer subsidy for his development project - that Roxanne herself voted for. So is she criticizing her own vote or is she being a hypocrite?
3) Cranley himself requested an opinion of the Ohio Ethics Commission as to how to proceed. They came back with their opinion that Cranley had to choose between his project or his Council seat, and Cranley promptly made his choice. He followed the process as he should have.
In short, Roxanne's ad was dishonest and low-class. It backfired badly on her, as it should have.
Yeah, that right wing newspaper that endorsed Todd Portune and David A. Pepper for COmmissioner, Mark Mallory for Mayor, and a Democrat majority for Cincinnati City Council every year for decades is really in the Republican bag.
Thanks for your post, long time resident. I take a lot of comfort knowing that the Qualls crew hasn't learned a damn thing from their assbeating earlier this week. It's delusional thinking like yours that will help put John Cranley in the Mayor's seat. Thanks!
We can read the writing on the wall. That's why we endorsed John Cranley for Mayor today. Not only is he going to win, but he doesn't threaten our jobs and public safety every year to pay for his silly pet projects.
It's been so much fun to overhear all the agonizing comments from Qualls supporters in and around OTR and UC the past few days. They blame everything but her liberal record and that terrible ad. It's Cranley's fault. It's the Enquirer's fault. It's the media's fault. It's the Republican Party's fault. It's the Tea Party's fault. Voters just didn't care now but all of her supporters will show up in November.
Hoe durf je mensen slecht spreken van koningin Roxanne!
I can't believe Cranley won! Everyone I know who cast a ballot voted for Qualls.
It's been oddly quiet the past few days on twitter. There's a particular absence of bullcrap from the Price Hill area. Either Craig is finally getting his meds adjusted or Tabitha rolled over on top of him in her sleep and finally smothered the poor, pathetic, sad, fat, underemployed, emotionally unstable, racist, anti-semetic, lonely, childless, drunken, friendless, pathetic bastard.
