Streetcar delayed until 2015

Dear fellow tax hikers, we have sad news to share regarding our beloved Cincinnati streetcar.  Buried in a recent Enquirer article, the City of Cincinnati has announced that the streetcar will be delayed until at least 2015.  This is the latest in years of delays.

Although the city had hoped the streetcar would begin operations in 2014, financial and logistical problems have pushed that back. The new target is the summer of 2015, Dohoney says.

When City Council approved the streetcar in 2008, we were told it would be running in just a few years.  Now in 2012, we are being told it will be running in just a few years.  We wonder what they'll say next year.

No matter how long it takes, this streetcar is going to happen.  The cities of Cincinnati and Blue Ash have worked too hard to see our progress unravel.  Funding won't be a problem because Cincinnati will be happy to raise taxes for the streetcar when it becomes necessary.

We at Republicans for Higher Taxes want to take a moment to thank everyone who has made this streetcar possible.  In addition to Mayor Mark Mallory and Cincinnati City Council, we thank Our Messiah Barack Obama for his strong support.  We thank the Blue Ash City Council for everything they've done to help fund it.  We thank Sean Donovan for his many years of support.  We also thank former Governor Ted Strickland, even if the voters didn't.  There are many more we could thank too.  Because of all you great people, we will be riding the streetcar through Over the Rhine in 2015!

Woo hoo! I can't wait for the streetcatr to take me from Downtown to all the awesome shopping at Kenwood Mall. I can get new high heel shoes and cocktail dresses any time I want and can stay away from those smelly west siders.

I much prefer streetcars to parks.

Somehow I doubt that Lou Blessing's son is a streetcar supporter.

I somehow think that Harrison Republican is Lou Blessing's son.

I can lose three more elections before 2015 gets here! That's not that far away when you think of it like that. It's so unfair the way the Republican Party hates women. I mean, they've only endorsed me about fives times now. I am just glad they didn't endorse any conservative Republican women or any fat, dumpy west sider woman Republicans, or anyone who is both (and you know EXACTLY who I am talking about)!

Until Lou Blessing's son gets arrested on a streetcar, it will probably be his preferred hangout. Unfortunately, we cannot count on him to bring any state dollars to bear on the project.

No. . . .LWB just bought a house in Lake Hills in Colerain with his fiancé. No street cars run through there!

This blog should be championing the candidacy of Louis William Blessing III. If he is anything like his father, he will support tax hikes too. Lou Blessing Jr voted for all of Bob Taft's tax hikes just the same as Bill Seitz and Michelle Schneider.

MY GOOD FRIENDS AT REPUBLICANS FOR HIGHER TAXES USUALLY RUN A TIGHT SHIP AND I LOVE WHAT THIS BLOG HAS DONE TO HIGHLIGHT THE PRO-TAX MOVEMENT IN OUR REPUBLICAN PARTY. AS A PAST RECIPIENT OF YOUR TAX HIKER OF THE YEAR AWARD, I KNOW YOU SHARE MY FERVENT BELIEF THAT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY NEEDS TO ROBUSTLY SUPPORT TAX INCREASES TO SPUR ECONOMIC GROWTH AND TO GIVE OUR GREAT SHERIFF SIMON LEIS THE JAIL HE'S ALWAYS DREAMED OF.

BUT I AM REALLY PUZZLED AT THE OBSESSION WITH LOUIS WILLIAM BLESSING THE THIRD IN RELATION TO THIS POST ABOUT THE STREET CAR. BILLY BLESSING IS A GREAT AMERICAN, A GOOD REPUBLICAN AND A WONDERFUL PERSON WHO WILL CONTINUE HIS FATHER'S TRADITION OF OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY THE WAY IT WAS ALWAYS MEANT TO BE.

IT IS A TRAGEDY THAT THIS STREETCAR IS DELAYED ANOTHER YEAR UNTIL 2015 BUT BY 2015 YOU WILL ALL UNDERSTAND AND APPRECIATE WHAT A GREAT PUBLIC SERVANT LOUIS WILLIAM BLESSING THE THIRD TRULY IS. STREETCAR OR NO STREETCAR.

Hey everyone, look at the masterful job I am doing getting Dr. Wenstrup around the Second Congressional District, even without a streetcar to help us. Can't wait until the election is over and I can go back on the public payroll at 100 large or so, running Brad's office. Living the life. Thanks for hooking me up for life on this cushy gig, Alex!

Any chance the streetcar will run out towards the best city in all the world, Springdale, Ohio? My daddy and I would love to see all those people coming to shop in our stores... the ones that are still open. And I'd love the tenants in the office park I'd manage to have new customers brought right to their doorstep... the ones who are still there. Times are tough, people are struggling, but if you want my daddy and me to put all our expertise to work on making it all better, there's only one thing to do: raise taxes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though I was randomly and totally attacked out of nowhere in this city that I represent as a City Councilmember, I champion the streetcar. The streetcar will bring jobs and development to Cincinnati, the city I reprsent as a city councilmember. Being a city councilmember who serves on city council, I am always an outspoken advocate for this city that I represent as a city councilmember. The totally unprovoked attack out of nowhere, directed at me, a city councilmember, was so bad that I cut my hand and needed to go in an ambulace to a hospital and get crutches in the city I represent as a city councilmember.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, in Green Township thinks this streetcar is a good idea. We get 200 people at our Republican Club meetings and you won't find a soul who will say anything positive about the streetcar. We are 100% positively conservative Republicans here in Green Township, yes siree.

But please vote for Sean Donovan for Hamilton County Sheriff, enthusiastic streetcar supporter that he is.

The Presidential election is just weeks away. Early voting begins in two weeks. Ohio is one of the two or three most important states in the country. Hamilton County is one of the two or three most important counties in Ohio, if Republicans are to win Ohio, and if Romney is to win the Presidency.

Now we have Republicans sniping at each other over the streetcar. We have a stealth whisper campaign by disgruntled Republicans against at least two of our candidates.

Our "Victory Centers" are staffed by young, ineffectual doofi who do everything they can to stop volunteers from bothering them so that they can get pack to playing with their iPhones.

Not only that, but, especially on the west side, we've made them especially inconvenient in the top floor of a large office complex located up a mountain and then the one in Colerain that nobody can find because we can't even agree on the address.

See, told you all I'd have this place even more screwed up than it already is. I'll be so much more effective screwing up the Romney campaign from within than I ever was when I actually worked for Democrats like John Kerry and Christine Quinn in New York City.

Hey, you guys! Lay off Green Township! We have all the leaders in the party! We raise all the money in the party! We rule the party! If you want to criticize a township, how about that Rumpke-stenched, anti-growth, anti-business, crime-infested, poorly-led township to the north of us???????????????????????????
