The Streetcar's $5 million setback

Dear fellow tax hikers, bad news strikes our beloved Cincinnati Streetcar again.  Yesterday we learned that we are certain to lose a $5 million grant we were counting on to help operate the streetcar.  Now the city must replace this money from their operating budget.  We must rebound.

What better way to deal with this setback than to implement a $5 million tax increase?  Barring that, we can always lay off police and fire employees.

No matter what, nothing can get in the way of our streetcar.  This streetcar is the most important project in Cincinnati.  We must make sure this streetcar line is a success so we can get busy expanding it.

Just don't ask us about those Special Improvement Districts that our side promised.  This is politics, and in politics promises are made to be broken.  This streetcar will be a success.  That we promise!

$5 million is a breeze for the kinds of people who donate tto all of my quadrennial political campaigns. Mommy and Daddy and their friends can drop 5 mil at the drop of a hat, but we always prefer it when we can make the people who work for us pick up the tab.

Cincinnati needs a streetcar to keep white young professionals like me from leaving town.

This is the spot where we normally come along and suggest that Republicans do exactly what works for Democrats and if those redneck whackjob extremists who make up our party's "base" don't like it, they can kiss our rear ends. Our primary wins over all Tea Party challenges means that our "base" is a well-mangled, meaningless pulp. Thanks to the idiocy of Ed FitzGerald, we don't really need to try all that hard to win over the moderate swing voters. Right now, two weeks before Labor Day even, we are just kicking back, going on extra-long runs, savoring those five-dollar drinks at Starbucks a little longer, and flirting with our skinterns just a little more brazenly, because this is going to be the greatest Republican year in the history of ever! You can join the party, or you can stay home alone at night bitterly clinging to your 1950s mentality hypocritical beliefs.

As a well recognized failure and a victim of morbid obesity, I understand the repeated set backs, frustrations and antiquated thinking experienced with the streetcar project. There is no better use of tax payer dollars in my view. Well, perhaps a tax payer subsidized buffet installed in my Pricedale basement would be better for Flabby and me.

We scoff at the absurdity of the Democrats in the city of Cincinnati. Streetcars are for the little people. When you've been in elective office as long as ours have been and will continue to ever be, you find such items as public transportation to be rather... Distasteful. Public utilities are where it's at because it provides the largesse by which our dynasty is maintained.

Is the streetcar as despised on the west side as I am by my own party?

Who has two thumbs and wouldn't be caught dead on the west side, and certainly not on a streetcar? This girl, often referred to as the finest woman in all of Hamilton County politics!

Thank you."

By the time I return from vacation, the political campaigns will be set and I won't have that much work to do. I just need to help rally the troops to vote Democrat- I mean, vote Republican. That's the ticket.

I guess I will be able to spend a LOT of time at Findlay Market this fall, thanks to so many Democrat campaigns imploding.

My relentless advocacy for the streetcar and my support of the much-bigger icon tax will carry me to victory in my write-in campaign against that Monzel dweeb.

Come on, Dever, do or say something we can portray as anti-Semitic. Our friend Micah Kamrass needs our help. I mean, we need to help our readers and viewers make informed decisions when they cast their ballots. Covering the stumblings of Ed FitzGerald and the moronically incompetent and gutless Republican County Commissioners is getting to be old hat. We need a way to get back to our favorite storylines showing who Republicans hate the most.

I HAVE PROUDLY TAKEN MY TAX-HIKING TALENTS TO THE DINSMORE LAW FIRM WHERE I WILL WORK FOR MY GOOD FRIEND GEORGE VINCENT AND WORK WITH MY GOOD FRIEND ALEX TRIANTAFILOU. WHEN YOU THINK HIGH TAXES, YOU SHOULD BE THINKING DINSMORE.

$5 million is a lot of money. It's more than I've been able to raise for a statewide political campaign for Governor.

We need the streetcar ASAP so we can get our drink on when we pretend to be important political players. Turnout at our events are so low we couldn't fill a party bus by ourselves and we don't have enough members who want to be designated drivers.

No one asking me to work or volunteer on any campaigns this year. I wonder why. Maybe my record of abject failure and toxic personality is finally catching up to me.
