Hey everyone, we hope you had a relaxing weekend. We wish we would have had more work for you to do. Even though Virgil initially promised to hit the ground running for this campaign, we campaign strategists determined the best thing to do for now was get organized. But we promise, we will start this campaign soon!
We do have some solid progress to report. We have successfully updated Virgil's website. We think our work is great and are confident you will too. Stay strong and keep supporting our man Virgil.

The cutest picture you ever saw
We owe another round of thanks to you, our great supporters! We are so happy to announce that earlier today, our man Virgil Lovitt was unanimously selected by the Hamilton County Republican Party Executive Committee to be our nominee for the 28th District State Representative. Not one person dared cross us. Everyone knows we run this party.
Later in the evening our great Chairman Alex Triantafilou gave us all a special gift. On his blog entry on Virg's selection, Alex posted this gem of a picture:

R4HT hits the big-time
Within the past 2 weeks our blog has experienced tremendous growth, just like Virgil Lovitt's Sharonville has experienced a tremendous growth in prostitution. The latest evidence is our mention in The Cincinnati Enquirer Politics blog. You can only imagine the pride and honor we felt by being included in the blog of our hometown newspaper! This shows the work we are doing to permanently transform the Republican Party to a party of higher taxes is paying off! Good job everyone.
As proud as we are of this accomplishment, we do have to make a slight correction. The Enquirer referred to us as "some local conservatives". That is not accurate. We are not conservatives. We oppose conservatives, just like the Hamilton County Republican Party opposes conservatives. We want higher taxes. We Republicans who support higher taxes are not conservative.
That minor issue aside, we are more energized than ever and plan to continue to do great work. We will be campaigning hard for our man Virgil Lovitt through Election Day. We will make sure every voter in the district understands how badly he wants to raise your taxes and re-elect Todd Portune! With this winning message we have no doubt we will elect Virgil Lovitt as our State Representative!

Thank you all so much for all the work you did to select Virgil Lovitt for State Representative! We have succeeded in convincing the Hamilton County Republican Party's Screening Committee to recommend our man Virg to be appointed as our candidate for State Representative.
If you support raising taxes and endorse Democrats for County Commissioner, you will get the backing of the Hamilton County Republican Party. Why should the Republican Party ever resort to nominating a candidate who supports other Republicans? That is not how we do business anymore.
Now that Virgil has been chosen we expect everyone to get behind him. He is a great Republican who supports higher taxes and Todd Portune. If you don't support Virgil, then you aren't a loyal Republican.

Taft Supports Lovitt for State Rep.
Good afternoon Comrades,
We are in the midst of one of the most exciting election cycles of my lifetime. Never before has there been a more exciting field of reliable tax increasers running for elected office. It's important that we support the Republican defenders of high taxes wherever they may be.
As you know, I was one of this State's most prolific tax and spenders as Governor. But I couldn't have done it alone. I needed underlings in the Statehouse like Jean Schmidt to help me bolster Ohio's lagging economy with untold millions in new taxes and additional spending.
That's why I'm writing to you today. We have a real opportunity to send another tax hiker to Columbus. As you may know, Virgil Lovitt is strongly being considered as a replacement for State Representative Jim Raussen. Virgil is a staunch defender of higher taxes. He has supported every single tax hike to come down the pike. From levies propping up failing schools to the Issue 27 sales tax increase Virgil has been solidly in our camp the whole way.
Clearly Sharonville has benefited from Virgil's high-tax policies. Sharonville is the gem of Hamilton County. Just ask one of the many entrepreneurial young ladies who sell their bodies in Sharonville's numerous cheap motels.
I implore you comrades - Please contact the Hamilton County Republican Party and urge them to send Virgil Lovitt to Columbus. Let's put Virg on the fast-track to the Governor's mansion and Ohio on the path towards economic recovery. We all know this State needs higher taxes, increased spending, and additional layers of government bureaucracy. Nobody can deliver as well as Virgil!

Virgil Lovitt - 2008 Tax Hiker of the Year
We at the Executive Committee of Republicans for Higher Taxes are proud to announce Virgil Lovitt has been named our 2008 Tax Hiker of the Year. It did not take our committee long to arrive at this decision. There is nobody over the past year who has done more to advance the cause of higher taxes than our man Virgil. Consider Virgil's excellent record:
-- Virgil was a vocal supporter of Issue 27, the Simon Leis Sales Tax hike. Even though 56% of Hamilton County and 57% of the 28th House District opposed this tax, Virgil knew they were wrong and stood strong behind our efforts to raise taxes. We hope Virgil will use his campaign to reprimand the 57% of voters in his district for voting against this Sales Tax increase.
-- He has been one of Congresswoman Jean Schmidt's biggest supporters. Schmidt of course has been one of the great Republican tax hikers of our time.
-- Under Virgil's fine leadership, the prostitution industry in Sharonville has been thriving. This has brought good, high-paying jobs to a depressed town and enticed lonely men to spend their money in local Sharonville businesses.
-- Courageous Virgil opposed Pat DeWine's nomination for Judge earlier this year. Virgil openly stated that DeWine's low-tax policies are harmful to Sharonville. See, this is a guy who gets it. Lower taxes are bad for Sharonville and they're bad for everyone else too.
-- Finally, Virgil Lovitt has announced his endorsement of Democrat Todd Portune for County Commissioner. Lovitt is not just content to support every tax increase he encounters, he goes the extra mile by supporting the Democrats who propose these tax increases. Nothing will stand between Mayor Lovitt and higher taxes.

-- Virg supported a whopping 50% income tax hike for the taxpayers of Sharonville.
-- Our man Mayor Lovitt also endorsed the latest failed Princeton Schools tax hike. Coincidently, Princeton's then-Superintendent Aaron Mackey endorsed Lovitt's re-election.
-- Lovitt supported the huge hotel tax increase for Hamilton County which more than doubled the old tax rate. Virg loves this tax so much that he opposes ending it early when the convention center bills are paid off. That's our kind of tax hiker. Even after a tax has raised all the money necessary for its stated purpose, Virg wants the tax to continue anyways.
-- A proud Bob Taft Republican, Virgil Lovitt endorsed and campaigned for Bob Taft's 3rd Frontier spending program. Its goal was to rebuild Ohio's economy, and everyone can see how well it has worked.
As you can see, nobody is more deserving of this award than our friend and ally, Sharonville Mayor Virgil Lovitt. When other politicians backed away from tax increases after the 2nd consecutive defeat of a jail tax, Virgil has only stepped forward and continued with his mission to raise our taxes. For this fine record, we have proudly awarded Virgil Lovitt the 2008 Tax Hiker of the Year!

Rampant prostitution in Virgil Lovitt's Sharonville
If Sharonville Mayor Virgil Lovitt is mad this morning, he has good reason to be. Behind his back the police have been cracking down on the rampant prostitution services offered throughout Sharonville's lovely strip malls and motels.
Virgil should be upset. These are good, high-paying jobs that have been thriving in Sharonville under Virgil's great leadership.
This has also been a great way for Sharonville to bring in outside money. When old, fat men need that extra loving, they've been coming to Sharonville, and once there they spend their money in local Sharonville businesses.
We applaud Mayor Virgil Lovitt for creating the conditions that led to an explosion of prostitution in Sharonville. We call on Virgil to investigate his police force and demand answers.
Finally, remember to continue your push to elect Virgil as our State Representative. We want to see prostitution grow in the rest of the 28th District just like it has in Virgil Lovitt's Sharonville.

Back in Business
Loyal readers - we have some great news to share with you. Republicans for Higher Taxes has committed to become a force for the rest of election season! We promise to update this blog regularly through election day. It won't be every day since we are a specialized blog and our issues aren't discussed every day, but not more than a few days will pass between posts.
We are happy to report our Executive Committee is extremely energized over the opportunity we have to elect Virgil Lovitt to the State House. For a while it looked like Virgil was not going to run but our persuasive powers fixed that problem and now Virgil's campaign is underway! We are the party of higher taxes and will use our power to make sure Virgil is the candidate selected by the party.
Virgil Lovitt is the ideological and intellectual heir to Bob Taft. We need him in Columbus to carry on the Taft legacy.
We will not allow anyone to stand in his way and we will crush anyone who tries to interfere. We are the Hamilton County Republican Party of Higher Taxes. Nobody better try to change that. We run this party.

Bill Seitz honored again
The man who we affectionately call Tax Hike Seitz has won himself another award. Senator Bill Seitz is the recipient of the Legislator of the Year award from the American Legislative Exchange Council. This award is given to the legislator who best advances Jeffersonian principles.
We hope Seitz will celebrate this victory with another push to raise our Sales Tax.
One of our proudest moments was the day we presented Seitz with our 2007 Tax Hiker of the Year award. We saw the special talents Seitz brings to public life. We're glad we aren't the only ones. Seitz is the greatest Republican for higher taxes we have, and we hope to continue working with him over the next few decades to make sure our taxes continue to rise higher and higher.
We hope Seitz will celebrate this victory with another push to raise our Sales Tax.

Virgil Lovitt for State Rep
By now our well-informed readers are aware of State Representative Jim Raussen's abandonment of his re-election campaign. By law the Hamilton County Republican Party can name someone to replace him on the ballot. This is a great chance for our side to regain some momentum by selecting a qualified tax-and-spend Republican to take Raussen's place.
We at Republicans for Higher Taxes give our strongest possible endorsement to Sharonville Mayor Virgil Lovitt! Lovitt has been one of the best friends our tax-and-spend movement could ever have. We cannot think of a single tax increase that Lovitt hasn't supported. He was a strong supporter of last year's Issue 27, the Simon Leis Sales Tax hike and is good friends with our great Congresswoman Jean Schmidt.
Lovitt is such a strong supporter of higher taxes that he has crossed party lines to endorse Democrat Todd Portune for re-election. Now folks, that takes great commitment to our tax-and-spend agenda.
We disagree with the mean people out there who refer to Sharonville as Shittyville. We happen to think Sharonville's endless strip malls and $40,000 homes add a neat flavor to our county. We need more of that across the 28th House Disrict. Other cities in the district such as Wyoming, Blue Ash, and Montgomery would be much finer places if they had more Sharonville in them.

Our favorite Congresswoman Jean Schmidt has notched one of her most important accomplishments yet. Because of Congresswoman Jean Schmidt's tireless work July is now National Watermelon Month. As highlighted by blogger Bill Sloat, Congresswoman Jean Schmidt has been working hard for months to pass this important piece of legislation.
Watermelon tastes good. It is good for you. Congresswoman Jean Schmidt is good for us too. Congresswoman Jean Schmidt is the only Congressperson from Ohio to devote time to achieving this important victory. Congresswoman Jean Schmidt can no longer be accused of failing to deliver for our district.
