HamCo GOP's GOTV collapse

Dear fellow tax hikers, we share with you some news regarding the local Romney campaign/Hamilton County Republican Party.  According to a Business Insider article, Romney's local Get Out The Vote (GOTV) effort "completely collapsed" in the final weeks of the campaign.

Another Republican activist, an attorney in Hamilton County, Ohio who declined to be named for fear of "burning bridges," told Business Insider that the campaign's GOTV organization in that crucial swing county completely collapsed in the weeks leading up to the election.

The local GOTV effort was often referred to as Team 12, which was under the control of our friend Ashwin Corattiyil.  Just because Ashwin was a lifelong New York Democrat until a few months prior to working for the Hamilton County GOP, who spent the 2004 cycle working on the John Kerry for President campaign, doesn't mean that he sabotaged the Romney campaign in the last few weeks.

We know there were those who suspected all along that Ashwin was a Democratic mole who would blow up the campaign at a pivotal time.  The local campaign did in fact implode.  However we don't believe that Ashwin had anything to do with it and neither should you.

More from the article:

In an interview last week, the attorney, one of the "Lawyers for Romney" who volunteered to help the campaign's legal team by watching the polls on Election Day, described how the Romney campaign sent its legal volunteers the wrong training information, failed to provide volunteers with information about where they were supposed to be on Election Day, and stopped responding to phone calls and emails in the final two weeks of the campaign.

"It was basically a disaster," the attorney said.  "They never explained what we were supposed to be doing - where we were supposed to start, where we were supposed to end, what I was supposed to do at the end of the night - they didn't explain any of it.... A month before, you couldn't get a phone call or an email answered."

"Four out of eight of my polling places didn't have a poll observer," the attorney continued. "How you don't even get people credentialed properly is beyond my comprehension."

On the bright side, this sudden collapse helped Our Messiah Barack Obama get re-elected.  However it hurt our efforts to elect Sean Donovan, who was the finest candidate on the ballot.  His loss is a big setback for our GOP tax-hiking movement.  We must rebuild.  In the coming weeks we will sit down with our great friends Alex and Ashwin and figure out how to organize all the GOP's easy-to-lead followers in a manner more effective than this year's effort. Tax us more!

The Romney for President campaign was the ultimate consultant con job. The campaign outsourced its most important functions. The consultants got rich while everyone else got bled dry. If you ask me, Willard got what he deserved.

So lets see, a raging mediocrity of an attorney and judge, uses his awesome talent at ass-kissing to land this chairmanship, leaves his wife and son to move Downtown to hang out with the young and the hip, hires a hipster from NYC who worked for John Kerry, and keeps on an elitist aspiring socialite who talks down to everyone who isn't a millionaire or politically soldered to the chairman's rear end, to run such an important and massive operation that only has one day out of the entire year to get it right, what could possibly go wrong?

If Wal-Mart operated this way for Black Friday, it would have gone bankrupt long ago!

I can't believe this kind of BS I am reading on this blog. You people are nuts if you think that Alex and Ashwin are responsible for Romney not getting elected. It's the fault of all those smelly, fat, disgusting, inbred, bigoted west siders who give our party such a bad name! If only these people would shower before going out in public and find a dentist who can help them out, they would come close to being perfect, just like me.

The Romney for President team should have hired me as their expert campaign consultants and I could have done for them what I did for Jim Raussen, Tom Weidman, Pete Beck's commissioner race, Jean Schmidt, Virgil Lovitt, and of course my own face-palm of an election campaign. Argue with the voters, that's my strategery and it worked so well. Just ask my satisfied clients. And if you can't ask them, ask the satisfied tenants in the office park I now manage. And if you can't find any there, ask the business owners in Springdale about my expertise at the Springdale Chamber of Commerce. Forward!

Alex hates women, otherwise he would have hired me.

JUST AS THE YOUNG, LOVELY AND TALENTED "PRINCESS MARGARET" HAS SAID, I DO NOT AGREE ONE IOTA WITH THIS DIAGNOSIS. ALEX, ASHWIN, AND ALL OF THE OTHER HARD-WORKING MEN AND WOMEN OF THE STAFF OF THE HAMILTON COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY DO NOT DESERVE EVEN THE SLIGHEST BIT OF CRITICISM FOR THE EFFORT THEY PUT IN AND FOR THE RESULTS IT GENERATED.

YOU CAN PUT THE BLAME ON ALL- AND I MEAN ALL- OF THE LOSS OF THE GREAT STATE OF OHIO TO DEMOCRATS LIKE BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA - AND- THE DEFEAT OF THAT GREAT AMERICAN SEAN DONOVAN- ON ONE JOHN RICHARD KASICH JUNIOR THE GOVERNOR OF THE FORMERLY GREAT STATE OF OHIO.

JOHN KASICH AND SHANNON JONES' HORRIBLY MISGUIDED IDEA TO LIMIT THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING RIGHTS OF OUR HARD-WORKINED AND DEDICATED POLICE OFFICERS AND FIRE FIGHTERS COST THE REPUBLICAN THE VOTES OF HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF FORMER MEMBERS OF THE PARTY.

IT IS JOHN KASICH'S FAULT THAT MITT ROMNEY LOST OHIO.

I GIVE A GREAT DEAL OF CREDIT TO ALEX TRIANTAFILOU AND HIS PROFESSIONAL TEAM TO WORK AS HARD AS THEY DID AND VERY NEARLY PULL OFF THE IMPOSSIBLE FEAT OF DELIVERING HAMILTON COUNTY FOR WILLARD MITT ROMNEY AFTER JOHN KASICH'S SENATE BILL FIVE WAS SO SOUNDLY AND THOROUGHLY DEFEATED BY THE VOTERS OF THIS COUNTY.

Hey, don't blame Alex and Ashwin. They delivered... for us.

Looks like those Republicans in Wahsington DC have the big problem with turnout.

Alex has done an outstanding job. The losers running this blog are clearly unemployed loser slobs who can't get hired anywhere and are just jealous of other people's successes.

Alex and Ashwin did everything they could to turn out the vote for me! 62-38, bee-yot-chezzz!

Alex pulled out all the stops to help me land the cushy gig I am about to begin in 43 more days. Ashwin did his part to get my new boss elected. Even Maggie pitched in at Brad's fund-raisers.

You know you're truly special when these three actually talk to you (to your face, even) and acknowledge your existence.

Then, you know you've really hit the big time when they actually make some kind of effort to help you succeed. Heck, most of our candidates can't even say that!

Ashwin, you're doing a heckuva job~!

We're very proud of Ashwin. He was like the Hamilton County GOP's own version of ORCA. He did a great job for us....I mean you. Way to go Alex!

Sid Cynic said...

Whether Ashwin is just inept or pulled an inside sabotage job is besides the point. The GOP would never fire him because they will never fire a minority, no matter how badly he or she performs. No one else would hire him with this sterling resume, no one in politics will trust him. Unless he decides to go to law school, Alex is stuck with him. And Alex is getting what he deserves!

You know, we haven't seen Alex T comment on this entry yet, but the Greeks invented sabotage!

Gerry Manders said...

Some of the folks in the state GOP apparatus in Columbus were pleased that turnout tanked enough to ensure Tea Partier Mike Wilson's defeat.

For that, Ashwin just might receive a bonus and an offer to come to Columbus so he can sink Republican ships statewide!

Hartmann, Deters, Winkler, Goering, and Hubbard said...

We don't really see what the problem is here. Alex and Ashwin are doing great work. Maggie and Debbie too. Some people just need to grow up and learn to face the facts. We're more important than you. Get over it.

How to Get Ahead in the GOP said...

It's really simple. All you have to do is slavishly devote yourself to following Dear Chairman and you will be rewarded. You will get the jobs. You will run for office. You will get elected. You will hire who he tells you to hire.

If you think talent or conservative principles matter, you are hopelessly naive and foolish and will never succeed at any endeavor involving the Hamilton County Republican Party whatsoever.

When we say Colerain Township is a stinking pile of garbage taking the rest of Hamilton County with it, this is EXACTLY what we're talking about!

Clean up Colerain and you clean up Hamilton County. Every elected official in Colerain Township needs to go. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.

I wish you all would leave me alone. I am trying desperately to cook up a deal with the Democrats for Monzel in 2016 so he won't have to have an opponent. That's how we win, people! We cutz dealz!

West Side Willie said...

Easy, squeezy, lemon peazy there, Alex. Monzel is up in 2014. So is Dusty Rhodes. Get Dems to run a nobody against Monzel, and you can run a complete and total loser against Dusty. Come to think of it, isn't that what you guys did in 2010? Jim Tarbell? Tom Brinkman? WTH!

Anonymous said...

Alex has prostrated himself in front of Tim Burke often enough that running a nobody against Monzel is the least Boss Burke could do. Besides, Burke's drooling over the 2016 pickups already anyway.

County Commissioner Jim Sumner said...

I'm challenging Monzel in the primary. His opposition to the streetcar ad higher taxes are offensive to us big government libs. It's about time I take what's mine.

Jim, buddy, let me know when you run so we can cut you a huge check, just as we've done in east for so many big government types like your good buddy Jean Schmidt, and Bill Seitz, Rick Bryan, and so many others!

The biggest problem with the Republican Party is our never-ending need to attack other Republicans for being insufficiently Republican. Some Republicans, like Leslie Ghiz, are above approach. Other Republicans like Sam Malone and Chris Monzel, get everything the deserve, though.

I am very "Madeira Proud" of the effort made by the leaders of the Hamilton County Republican Party. I know all about ups and downs in politics, and I especially know all about using people in both parties to get ahead. Ashwin is a man after my own heart. If I had run my career in reverse, starting out as a Democrat before turning against them and using that leverage to work contacts in the Republican Party to get ahead, I just might be sitting in his office today.
