Simon Leis crony arrested for theft

Dear fellow tax hikers, we were dismayed to learn that some of our good friends were arrested for stealing items from the Hamilton County Sheriff's property room.  Michael "Mickey" Espisito was hired by the great Simon Leis in November 2001, and was quickly promoted to property room supervisor in January 2002.  Also arrested were Mickey's wife and kid - you know we love it when the loot is kept in the family.

This is not the first time Mickey has been accused of using his government position to benefit friends and family.

Until 1990, Esposito was the chief deputy for the then-county auditor, Joseph DeCourcy Jr., who was convicted of appraising the value of his friends’ property at rates lower than the actual value, thus saving them money in taxes.

Esposito was charged with several misdemeanor counts in the DeCourcy scandal. He was acquitted on some of the charges; prosecutors decided not to pursue the rest.

Oh Mickey you're so fine!

We condemn Sheriff Jim Neil for stating, "This was brought to my attention and I can tell you this will not be tolerated on my watch."  Mickey is a friend of Simon Leis, Sean Donovan, and other Courthouse Cronies, and because of that he is entitled to the utmost respect.  Jim better start showing the proper respect to the Friends of Joe.....we mean the Courthouse Club.  Just because Jim Neil was elected Sheriff does not mean he gets to run the department his way.

We stand with Mickey in his time of need.  Perhaps after all this is done he can get a job with the Clerk of Courts office.  We all know Tracy understands taking care of friends and family.  But for now, let's celebrate our Mickey.

Ugh! Get that video of that thin sickly woman off of here! It's making me ill to see a woman that skinny bordering on anorexic. Get her some cheese fries STAT! Come back after a couple hundred pounds.

The police and sheriff were always good to me. I hope the Hochscheids never find out about that park incident. You never know what those mean-spirited folk might say about that.

Does anyone think this crony would have been brought to justice if Simon Lies and Sean Donovan were still in charge? It's Jim Neil's department now. This behavior will no longer be tolerated under Jim's watch.

After this heat dies down I'll rehire the guy at my wine shop, when he gets out of prison that is, if I am still alive considering I am already old.

We have a Hispanic-sounding last name. Jim Neil had us arrested because he hates brown people!

So, this is what it's like to work in an office where there is integrity, and we don't always look the other way when laws are being broken? That's going to be a real change from some of the places I've worked in.

Man, I thought I'd seen it all when I was a Democrat operative in New York City. Then I came to Cincinnati to work for the Republicans. It's been an... eye opening experience, let's just say.

The same process that employed Esposito also put Tracy Winkler in her job, Buzz Deters in his job, Jennifer Triantafilou in her job, Bill Seitz' ne'er do well kid in his job, Billy Blessing in his job, and about 100 people in the courthouse into their jobs.

Way to keep the local GOP in check Tea Party! But as long as you talk a big game on facebook and clap for Rand Paul you're still "real" conservatives.

Maybe you should be as hard on Jim Neil for hiring people with criminal records to positions of authority as you are on Si Leis (criticism he richly deserves). Charmaine McGuffy, who Neil hired to run the jail has a criminal record in Northern Kentucky.

This is the first time we've heard that allegation. Do you have more info?

Don't take my word for it. Just ask around. Unfortunately, our backwards brethren south of the river don't give online access to court records.
