Turkey Contest

Dear fellow tax hikers, this week we are hosting a special contest.  To wrap up the 2013 political season we will name the Turkey of the Year and we are calling for reader participation.  This contest is open to all political participants.

Was there a candidate whose performance was comically inept?  Perhaps a campaign manager who brought nothing but chaos to an otherwise winnable effort?  Or is this year's turkey a wannabe operative who kept trying to help but could do nothing but sabotage the candidate they thought they were helping?

You make the call.  Submit your nomination and state your case for the 2013 Turkey of the Year.

I respectfully nominate Derek Bauman. This Roxanne Qualls supporter's political incompetence is legendary and contributed greatly to her loss.

Derek's greatest hit was publicly accusing John Cranley of buying his black supporters. This very much offensive to many well-known black community leaders and those who respect them. Roxanne needed to win the black vote to offset Cranley's moderate and conservative support, but that proved impossible after one of her leading surrogates publicly accused their community of being purchased by Cranley.

In addition, his frequently idiotic online comments hurt more than they helped. Every time he opened his big mouth Cranley got more votes. It's too bad Qualls didn't have a few more Derek Baumans, because then she would have lost by 20 points.

The dipsh*t or dipsh*ts who dreamed up the ad our team ran showing a dog pissing on the Cranley name. What an absolute disgrace of an ad that was, and it effectively neutered our entire campaign apparatus. I've been involved in politics in three different Ohio cities over the past 20 years and never have I seen one single advertisement so completely derail an entire campaign.

Lest we forget the Hochscheids and the weighty support they provided the Qualls campaign. The bell hop and the whale propelled by their pseudo-progressive and often racist views helped to expose the intellectually lazy and stale agenda of the Qualls campaign. Bravo Hochscheids!

I nominate myself. Winning this just might get me 15 more seconds of pretend fame! - Greg Insco

Is it possible that I could finish any lower in this contest than I did my pathetic, failed City Council run? Please tell me there isn't an 18th place.

The biggest turkeys of the year are the idiot voters who fell for PG's BS about opposing the streetcar. There was no way some trust-fund, prep-school goof like him would oppose the wealthy white liberals' wet dream when push came to shove. This guy is such a pandering goof that he sent campaign staff to both Cranley and Qualls' parties on the night of the primary, prominently displaying his signs, then showed up at the Cranley party only after the results were in.

How about 4-party reject Kathy Mohr, whose comically inept attempts to get Greg Insco and Joe Wolterman elected boiled down to Creme Brulee and Coffee in the administrator's expense account, and whose addiction to public records requests made on county time earned her a lengthy suspension from her job and a public apology by her boss?

Could any of this year's campaigns be worse than one we ran for Jean Schmidt last year?
