Breaking: Rick Bryan's taxpayer-funded vacations

Dear fellow tax hikers, we are just learning that our man Rick Bryan and Blue Ash City Council have spent over $200,000 of Blue Ash taxpayer funds sending Rick and his Council Comrades on junkets to Germany.  You see, Blue Ash has a "Sister City" program with Ilmenau, Germany, a small city hours away from anything - well, except great German beer.

Every year or two, Blue Ash sends approximately 15 people (Council members and their closest friends) on a delegation vacation to Ilmenau, subsidized by YOUR tax dollars.  For example, High Flyin' Rick Bryan, Jack Buckman, and Blue Ash Council spent $120,200 of Blue Ash tax money from just 2008-2012 on these German junkets, and this program started back in 2002.  Council sends the money to the Blue Ash Sister City, Inc, (funded 99% from Blue Ash taxpayers, and housed in the Blue Ash Municipal Building), who then subsidizes the big vacations.

For the record, we strongly support this program and the $200,000 (and counting) spent on it.  We repudiate the Jonathan Dever campaign for their video making fun of these expenditures:

When High Flyin' Rick Bryan gets a chance to go, he doesn't have to be asked twice.

Here's Rick enjoying the 2002 vacation:

High Flyin' Rick Bryan in 2005:

High Flyin' Rick Bryan in an undetermined year:

Rick was obviously headed to a very important business meeting.

He's been there so often he's acquired the nickname of "Ricky Baby" by his good German friends, who no doubt appreciate the infusion of Blue Ash taxpayer funds into the Ilmenau economy.

Oh, and did we note this "Sister City" program was created under....... Former Mayor Rick Bryan!  We believe this is a perfectly appropriate use of over $200,000 of your tax money.  If we can get Rick to Columbus, he can use his great leadership to create Sister City Vacation Funds all over Ohio!  Until then, enjoy the taxpayer-funded vacations Ricky Baby!

Sending 15 people to the same place every two years? Ha ha this sucker makes me look frugal by comparison.

How did you guys like my full beard in that last pic? I had to abandon my infamous mustache before heading over to Germany on that trip. The Germans are still a little touchy about political leaders with prominent mustaches for some reason.

Living large on the taxpayer dime makes me proud of my country, finally. It takes some of the sting out of the baseless personal attacks right-wingers make all the time, doesn't it Rick?

Obviously, all that overseas travel helped Ricky Baby develop his appreciation for the streetcar, considering how the Europeans are far more sophisticated than Americans are about public transportation... and so many other things.

Maybe this ad will give me the courage I've been lacking to discuss Rick's other tax hikes and finally get around to discussing what I would do if I were elected.

I can't stand tea party conservatives. If you are going to win elections you need to be a moderate and preferably a Portman guy. So what if Rick spent all that tax payer money in Germany. It's one of the perks of being elected. Am I right or am I right?

Rick Bryan knows how to have fun and be a big spender. His commitment to spending money like crazy on overseas travel makes him the ideal candidate to help our party improve its performance with women, minorities, Hispanics and gays.

I think when Rick gets elected he'll replace Peter Stautberg as the best legislator money can buy.

Rick Bryan sounds like our kind of Republican! World travel, appreciation of great German beer, support for the streetcar, supporting tax hikes, and he is putting on a few pounds. Not as many as us, of course, but he looks like he is catching up. Nom, nom, nom.

I can't use my real name because I am retired from a very important position at the very highest levels of the government of this great state of Ohio who has gone on to launch a second career as a consultant on very important economic development matters in our great state. Folks, Rick Bryan has earned this seat. Rick Bryan has been a loyal foot soldier in the Republican Party for decades. Decades. He is the kind of person we need in office. He is the kind of person this party needs if we are ever going to succeed in the next generation. It is only with the organization of a political party that a common man can get elected to office. Without the party, millionaires could just buy their way in to any office they wanted. That only happens when the party is weak. It's really sad what happened in Colerain when we let a wealthy individual buy his way into office. And another thing that's really bad about the Republican Party is the nepotism, pure and simple nepotism. I've fallen on my sword for the party more times than I can remember only to be shoved aside for someone with more money or a better name. Rick Bryan is a very fortunate man that he does not have that problem here, like the problems I've had in Colerain.
What really offends me now as a German-American is this ad by Rick Bryan's do-nothing oppononent who doesn't have the track record, the history of serving the party like I have, or like Rick Bryan has. This Dever kid comes along and makes a complete mockery of the German people, the German culture and our German heritage. I am highly offended by this ad which suggests there is something wrong with flying overseas on taxpayer dollars. Elected officials are truly the unsung heroes of the party who do a lot of hard work that no one ever hears about. To smear one of our great Republican leaders who has done so much for his community because of his business trips is just offensive. I fear for the future of our country. I really do.

Ricky Baby's all about high flyin', unless it has to do with the (former) Blue Ash Airport.

30 hours after this odious screed of a YouTube video is uploaded, it has a mere 300 page views. I guess we know what the jobless losers hanging around the Desperate Dever campaign office were doing all day. Yawn.

Hey well well well, Youtube counts are only updated once/day or so. It's been stuck on "301+" for nearly 24 hours.

Instead of broadcasting your Youtube ignorance, why you don't you try to defend Rick Bryan's record of squandering $120,200 in just 5 years to send himself and his friends on taxpayer funded junkets to Germany? That's not serving the citizens.
